Coos Co. release – Work has begun on the new concert area at the Coos County Fairgrounds and the Coos County Fair Board is seeking help from the community to help with decorative trees. The Emerald Green trees they wish to use as a block and sound barrier around the new concert area, which will be located where the floral building had been, cost around $15 to $25 each. Around 100 are needed for the project. Those interested in donating toward this project would be greatly appreciated. Currently the new concert area is being leveled and will be covered with grass seed. The Fair Board hopes to have new fencing and a tree border planted this year before the Fair. There will be a temporary stage this year to see how it will work out in that location. The goal is to have the permanent stage available to use for concerts and other events throughout the summer months. The floral building was moved several months ago to its new location, where it will be repurposed as a saloon and beer garden. The floral display will be moved to the Oaks Building. The board also is looking for funds to install power and water to the new stage area, as well as to rebuild the water feature in front of the Oaks Building. The water fixture project is estimated to cost around $10,000 and a designer will need to be hired, unless someone steps forward as a volunteer to build it. Contact the Coos Co. Fair Office in Myrtle Pt., 541-396-2200, for more information. The fair will be held July 23-27.
