Get ready for the Prep Winter Sports Season in Oregon. Just as the final gun sounded Saturday night at various football venues for the OSAA State Championships marking the end to the Fall Sports Season, now the attention turns indoor for basketball, wrestling, dance, swimming and cheer. Well, Marshfield’s swimmers are always training and competing outdoors at the Mingus Park Pool. The OSAA allows its members school to start their schedules Wednesday, Nov. 29. Marshfield’s wrestlers will go to the Coquille Tournament, and the Lady Pirate basketball team heads to the Bandon Jamboree. Friday and Saturday, both of Marshfield’s basketball teams have tournaments in Central Oregon. The girls will go to Madras, while the boys are at Crook Co. in Prineville. North Bend’s boys & girls are slated to open the basketball season at home Wednesday to Siuslaw. Then Friday travel to Hidden Valley south of Grants Pass.
