Kehl (60); Male arrested at Lakeside McKay’s by Dunes Deputy Patrolling ATV route on quad. On April 12th, 2024, at 2:49 p.m., the Coos County Sheriff’s Office Dispatch Center received a report of a man who had previously trespassed from McKay’s in Lakeside, located at 100 N. 8th Street in Lakeside, back on the property. Dunes Deputy M.R. Smith diverted from his duties in the Oregon Dunes National Recreation Area (ODNRA) to patrol the Lakeside ATV route and attempt to locate the suspect David J. Kehl (60). Deputy M.R. Smith located David at the Lakeside McKay’s. A record check on Mr. Kehl revealed he had a valid outstanding warrant for his arrest. Dispatch confirmed the warrant, and David J. Kehl (60) was placed under arrest. David J. Kehl was transported to the Coos County Jail by Deputy B. Kent, who was operating a patrol vehicle. Mr. Kehl was booked and remains in custody.
