City of Coos Bay release – Between D Street and Twelfth Avenue – On Tuesday January 16, 2024, City staff was alerted to a possible land slide on Coos River Highway between “D” Street and Twelfth Avenue in Eastside. Upon arrival staff observed that a portion of the roadway shoulder and subgrade had failed. The City has contracted with GeoStabilization International (GSI) to make the necessary repairs. The project start date is scheduled for February 19, 2024, and anticipated to take approximately 3-4 weeks to complete depending on weather and site conditions. The contractor will use flaggers to control traffic through the area. Please be patient and follow the direction of the flaggers. Please take caution when approaching and traveling through the construction zone. Please pardon the dust while these improvements are occurring.
