No. 1 Marshfield (6-1, 19-3) dispensed No. 2 Marist Catholic (6-1, 18-2) 3-0 in a 4A District 4 volleyball match at the Pirate Palace, Coos Bay, Wednesday. The two teams are now tied for first-place in the league with one match to go in the regular season. In 1A – Myrtle Pt. beat visiting Milo Adventist Academy 3-0. No score Elmira at Siuslaw. In matches Thursday, 3A – Brookings-Harbor at Coquille. 2A – Oakland at Gold Beach, Bandon at Illinois Valley, & Reedsport at Waldport. 1A – Elkton at Powers, and Myrtle Pt. at Yoncalla. All start at 6 p.m.

In boys’ prep soccer Thursday, Cottage Grove at North Bend, 5 p.m., Vic Adams Field. In 3A/2A/1A – Coquille/Myrtle Pt. at Pacific/Bandon, 4p. Brookings-Harbor at Lost River/Bonanza, 4:30p. In girls’ prep soccer Thursday, 4A Cottage Grove at North Bend, 7p. 3A/2A/1A – Siuslaw at Pleasant Hill, 4:30p.

Prep xc
Pacific High School hosted its annual 5K Cinnamon Roll Run on Wednesday at Buffinton Park, Port Orford. North Bend’s girls, led by sophomore Ellie Massey in first-place (20:38.96) and freshman Bryleigh Mead in second (20:54.44), won the meet with 23-points, Bandon second with 49 and Marshfield third with 52. Sophomore Marley Petrey led Bandon with third-place overall (21:23.02) and Marshfield freshman Lily Thompson led the Pirates in 8th (22:11.94). North Bend took first in the boy’s race with 30-points. Marshfield was second with 33, followed by Reedsport (74) and Brookings-Harbor (99). Junior Elijah Cellura of Marshfield was the overall winner in 18:28.76, while North Bend junior Matix Wolfe was second (18:41.97).
