A couple of 3-0 wins by the Bay Area prep volleyball teams in 4A District 4 play Thursday on the road. Top-ranked Marshfield disposed of Cottage Grove and North Bend beat Junction City. Second-place Marshfield (5-1, 18-3) hosts league leader Marist Catholic (5-0, 14-1) on Wednesday, while third-place North Bend (3-3, 12-4) hosts Cottage Grove on Monday. In 3A volleyball, Siuslaw lost at La Pine 3-0, Brookings-Harbor fell at Glide 3-1, and Coquille won at North Valley 3-2. In 2A – Gold Beach won at Illinois Valley 3-0 and Bandon won at Reedsport 3-0. In 1A – Myrtle Pt. beat visiting Camas Valley 3-0, Pacific lost to visiting Riddle 3-0, and Days Ck. won at Powers 3-2. In matches today, New Hope Christian is at Pacific, 6p; Coquille is at Lakeview, 3:30p. On Saturday, Powers is at Yoncalla.

In prep girls’ soccer Thursday, 3A/2A/1A – Sisters won at Siuslaw 4-0; Lost River/Bonanza won at Coquille/Myrtle Pt. 3-2; Brookings-Harbor beat visiting Lakeview 4-0. In boys 3A/2A/1A – Thursday, Sutherlin won at Coquille/Myrtle Pt. 3-0, So. Umpqua won at Gold Beach 4-1, Pacific/Bandon won at Douglas 8-0, and Brookings-Harbor beat visiting Lakeview/Paisley 7-0. On Saturday, Brookings-Harbor plays at St. Mary’s Medford.

It’s Homecoming for Marshfield’s football team tonight at Pete Susick Stadium, Coos Bay. The Pirates will host the Ashland Grizzlies and North Bend will have a non-league game at home, Vic Adams Field, against visiting Stayton, both games begin at 7 p.m. In other games – 3A – Siuslaw at Elmira and Brookings-Harbor at So. Umpqua. In 2A – Gold Beach at Reedsport and Bandon/Pacific at Illinois Valley. 2A – Myrtle Pt. at Bonanza. 1A6 – Powers wins by forfeit over Glendale, 1-0. All games kickoff at 7 p.m. On Saturday, 3A – Lakeview at Coquille, 1p.
