Cottage Grove’s boys and North Bend’s girls each won the 2024 4A Sky-Em District Track & Field Championships on Frank Shriver Track inside Vic Adams Field, at North Bend High School, Friday and Saturday. The top two individuals in each event, plus anyone who achieved a state qualifying mark or time, advances to the OSAA 4A State Championships Friday & Saturday, May 17 & 18, Hayward Field, Eugene. Marshfield (131) was second to the Lions (172.5), and just a point better than North Bend (130). North Bend’s girls won with 182.5-points, to Junction City’s 157.5. Marshfield (70) was fifth. 2A Special District 3 Track & Field Championships
Central Linn won the boys team race and Bandon the girls in the 2A Special District 3 Track & Field Championships at Bandon High School Saturday, May 11. The Cobras tallied 104-points to Illinois Valley’s 97. Reedsport tied for fifth (62), Gold Beach 7th (50) and Bandon eighth (48). The Lady Tigers rang up 193-points to win the district title over second place Central Linn with 81. Reedsport was sixth (42), and Gold Beach 11th (5). 3A-Special District 5 Track & Field Championships
The 3A Far West held its district track & field championships at Sutherlin High School Friday & Saturday. Coquille’s girls and Douglas boys each won team titles. The Lady Devils tallied 177.5-points to St. Mary’s with 118. Brookings-Harbor scored 13.5. The Trojans took the boy’s championship with 144-points to St. Mary’s with 119. Brookings-Harbor was fourth with 79.5-points, and Coquille eighth with 40.5. Individual state qualifiers for the boys: 800 – Peter Goode (BH) 1st 2:05.85; 4X400R – BH (Devan Downing, John Devereaux, Goode, Tanner Anderson-Nelson) 2nd 3:38.58; Shot Put – Jerico Jones (Coq) 1st 43-0; Discus – Jones (Coq) 2nd 127-1; Triple Jump – Goode (BH) 1st 38-3. The 1A Special District 2 track & field championships were held at Sutherlin High School Friday and Saturday. Myrtle Point’s boys won the 23-team race with 89-points. Pacific was third with 62, and Powers tied for 16th (15). North Lake won the girl’s team title (100-pts) with Myrtle Pt. second (80). Pacific was seventh (35) and Powers 11th (26).
