In prep girls’ volleyball Saturday: 2A – visiting Oakridge over Bandon 3-0; Oakridge also won at Gold Beach 3-0. Visiting Lowell won at Gold Beach 3-0 and Bandon 3-0. Toledo won 3-0 at Reedsport and Monroe won 3-1 at Reedsport.

In prep football Friday night, North Bend beat visiting Hidden Valley, Grants Pass, 28-26 in the Miss Flame Game at Vic Adams Field. Marshfield went on the road and lost at Henley, Klamath Falls, 63-18. This week, the Pirates (2-2, 3-4) play at Hidden Valley, and the Bulldogs (3-1, 7-1) are at Ashland. In 3A – St. Mary’s Medford won at Brookings-Harbor 28-26, So. Umpqua won at Coquille 10-0, and Siuslaw lost at home to visiting Banks 40-6. In 2A – Gold Beach beat visiting Rogue River 38-0, Oakland won at Bandon/Pacific 28-7, and Reedsport lost at Glide 19-0. In 1A6 – Powers downed visiting Riddle 64-18.

In prep girls’ soccer Saturday: 3A/2A/1A – Coquille/Myrtle Pt. lost at Brookings-Harbor 2-1.

Marshfield sophomore Jaxson Stovall ran at the Crater 5K Twilight on Thursday at Central Point where he was 14th overall (16:25.19). Crater junior Josiah Tostenson won the race in 14:38.31. Marshfield’s team will next run at the Umpqua Invite, Stewart Park, Roseburg, Wednesday, Oct. 18th. North Bend’s teams ran at the CG Bramble Scramble, Cottage Grove, Saturday. Sophomore Ellie Massey led the Bulldogs girls in 11th place on the 5K course (1:48.75). Junior Adele Beckstead, Philomath, was the individual winner (20:23.88). The Warriors also captured first place as a team with 28-points. North Bend was third (90) and Bandon fifth (93). Bandon sophomore Marley Petrey was fourth overall (21:15.66). Junior Carter Bengtson, Cottage Grove, was the winner of the boy’s race in 16:26.93, but Newport took the next four places to win the team race with 28-points. North Bend was sixth (172) and Bandon ninth (202). Freshman Noah Brown led Bandon in 18th (19:30.34) and junior Matix Wolfe led North Bend in 28th (20:01.38). North Bend and Bandon’s teams will also run at the Umpqua Invite Wednesday.
