Marshfield and North Bend’s swim teams went 1-2 at the Cottage Grove Relays Saturday in the South Willamette Valley. The Pirates scored 353-points to the Bulldogs 328, North Medford followed with 278, Cottage Grove 245, Phoenix 223, Marist Catholic 184, and Eagle Pt. 90. Marshfield coach Kathe McNutt described the season opener as “fun relays.” Times and distances were not sanctioned. Marshfield won three relays and took second six-times. North Bend won five relays and took second in three.

Prep basketball scores from Monday, Dec. 4: North Bend’s girls won at Toledo 47-29. Pacific’s girls beat visiting Gold Beach 45-13. Gold Beach boys won at Pacific 49-38. North Bend’s boys beat visiting Brookings-Harbor 70-41.
