Ribbon cutting for new Sea Lion Docks at Newport, Friday, Aug. 25, 3:30 p.m. The Greater Newport Chamber of Commerce and the Newport Sea Lion Foundation are holding a celebration to mark the return of the Sea Lion Docks on the historic waterfront. Following a ribbon cutting at Port Dock 1, an after party is scheduled from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Clearwater Tent. The docks floated for more than 18-years, but wear and tear slowly destroyed them forcing the Port to remove them. The Foundation raised money for the new docks from donations to allow coastal visitors once again a close up view of the sea lions resting in the sun.
