On Monday, December 18th, 2023, detectives with the Douglas Interagency Narcotics Team (DINT) arrested a Roseburg man after observing a suspected drug deal in progress. Detectives observed as two persons met at an unusual location on the side of the road in the 1400 block of Roberts Mountain Road in Green. Aided by a deputy with the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office, detectives contacted the individuals to investigate the suspicious activity. One of the persons contacted was 43 year old Jeremy Ray Hawkins, of Roseburg. Hawkins was found to be in possession of a small amount of suspected methamphetamine. A subsequent search of Hawkins’ vehicle revealed approximately a half pound of suspected methamphetamine, 8.2 grams of suspected heroin, a small amount of suspected fentanyl, scales, packaging, and other drug paraphernalia. Two handguns were also found hidden inside the vehicle with the controlled substances. Hawkins is a prior convicted felon, and it is illegal for him to possess firearms. Hawkins was transported to the Douglas County Jail where he was lodged on the following charges: Unlawful Possession, Unlawful Delivery, and Unlawful Manufacture of Methamphetamine; Unlawful Possession, and Unlawful Delivery of Heroin; 2 counts of Felon in Possession of a Firearm; 2 counts of Unlawful Possession of a Firearm (concealed). DINT arrested Hawkins once before. In December of 2021, DINT detectives initiated a traffic stop on a vehicle Hawkins was driving near the intersection of Stewart Parkway and Edenbower Blvd. During that incident, Hawkins was found to be in possession of approximately 1 pound of suspected methamphetamine, scales, packaging material, and a firearm. That case is still pending in the court system.
