Hwy. 238 Fatal, Jackson Co., Nov. 21

On Friday, November 17, 2023, at 3:15 p.m., the Oregon State Police responded to a two-vehicle crash on Hwy 238, near milepost 25, in Jackson County. The preliminary investigation indicated a westbound Ford Aspire, operated by Seaven James Wyatt (79) of Jacksonville, made a left turn onto Upper Applegate Road. The Ford crossed into the path of an eastbound Toyota Tacoma, operated by Ramon Rios Duran (70) of Medford, causing a side-impact collision. The operator of the Ford (Wyatt) was declared deceased after transport. The operator of the Toyota (Duran) suffered reported minor injuries. The highway was impacted for approximately 2.5 hours during the on-scene investigation. OSP was assisted by the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office, Applegate Valley Fire, Mercy Flights, and ODOT.
