Hwy. 153, Yamhill Co., June 10

Yamhill County, Ore. 6 June 24- On Thursday, June 6, 2024, at 10:03 p.m., Oregon State Police responded to a two-vehicle crash on Hwy 153, near milepost 14, in Yamhill County. The preliminary investigation indicated a westbound Toyota Corolla, operated by Travis Joseph Byrley (25) of Salem, swerved into the ditch to avoid a collision with an eastbound motorcycle which had reportedly entered the westbound lane of travel. The Toyota lost control and swerved back onto the roadway striking the second motorcycle, a Victory CR8 operated by Kevin Gilbert McFadden (57) of Salem. The other motorcycle, which was reportedly in the westbound lane, did not stop. The operator of the Victory (McFadden) was declared deceased at the scene. The operator of the Toyota (Byrley) suffered minor injuries. The highway was impacted for approximately 3.5 hours during the on-scene investigation. The cause of the crash is under investigation. OSP was assisted by Yamhill County Sheriff’s Office, Dayton Fire, and ODOT.
