OPRD release – The Oregon Commission on Historic Cemeteries (OCHC) will meet in Forest Grove at the Old Train Station and Museum, 1936 19th Avenue, and via online meeting on April 17 at 9:30 a.m. The agenda includes discussion of cemetery record preservation, a presentation from the Oregon Mortuary and Cemetery Board on operating cemetery requirements, and a presentation from Oregon State Archives on cemetery related records and support for local governments and special districts. The meeting is open to the public and the agenda includes an opportunity for public comment. State law established the seven-member Commission to maintain a listing of all historic cemeteries and gravesites in Oregon; promote public education on the significance of historic cemeteries; and help obtain financial and technical assistance for restoring, improving and maintaining their appearances.
