CBPL release – Eugene Taiko Drumming Group will perform at Mingus Park Amphitheatre Saturday, July 20 at 2:00pm as part of the Coos Bay Public Library’s Summer Reading Program. The all-ages event is free and audience members are welcome to bring blankets and lawn chairs for the performance. The Amphitheatre is located at 725 N. 10th Street in Coos Bay. Eugene Taiko is a community-based Japanese drumming ensemble that has been performing for audiences throughout Oregon since 1989. Performing modern interpretations of traditional pieces as well as their own compositions, the members of Eugene Taiko bring their energetic enthusiasm to each of the group’s performances. The event is part of the Coos Bay Public Library’s annual Summer Reading Program. During the summer, the Library offers both a reading challenge and programming for all ages which encourage people to read, learn, connect and find their voice. Beginning June 17 and continuing through August 17, participants of any age can participate in the summer reading bingo challenge, earning badges and entry into prize drawings. Participants who register will get a special prize for entering. This year, people can participate either online or using a paper bingo sheet. Challenge registration is available on the Library’s website or at the Coos Bay Public Library.
