NETWORKING WITH PURPOSE

Coos Bay Public Library, May 28

CBPL, 525 Anderson Ave., Coos Bay – Baby Storytime, Tuesday, May 28 in the Myrtlewood Room, 10:00am – 10:30am. Calling all babies and caregivers– Join us for a magical, melody-filled gathering full of songs, rhymes, and early literacy tips! This event is perfectly tailored for tiny explorers aged 0-14 months and their favorite grown-ups. Let’s create beautiful memories and nurture a love for learning together! Stories on the Spectrum – Tuesday, May 28 in the Myrtlewood Room, 2:00pm – 4:00pm. Stories on the Spectrum is a sensory-friendly monthly gathering where neurodiverse adults and support staff are invited to hang out, enjoy snacks, and do an activity. This month we’ll be tapping into our creativity to design our own entrancing sensory bottles (example)! Here’s a brief run-down of what you can expect at this event: What to bring: Bring yourself, clothes you don’t mind getting dirty, and any special snacks or drinks you enjoy. (We will be providing snack-sized chips and soda!) If you have noise-canceling headphones, feel free to bring those too. If you have any small items you’d like to add to your sensory bottle, please bring them along as well. When to arrive: We’ll be opening the event at 2:00pm and closing at 4:00pm, so you can arrive at a time that works for you. Instructions will be available and staff will be on hand to help you if you have any questions. What if I finish early? We’ll have coloring sheets and colored pencils available if you’d like to do something else or don’t feel like making a sensory bottle. You can also just hang out, chat, and meet new people! Stimming and Movement: Feel free to move around and stim as much as you’d like to during the event. It’s all good! Textures: This project will use oil, glitter, orbeez, glue, and other materials that might get on your hands or spill if you aren’t careful. Paper towels will be available in the room and there are sinks in nearby bathrooms if you need to wash your hands. Bathrooms: Public restroom access will be available inside the library. Friendly staff at the circulation desk will be happy to point you in the right direction if you need help getting oriented. Music: We’ll play quiet, calming background music during the event. Remember: This is a safe and inclusive space where everyone is welcome. It’s okay to be yourself and enjoy this time in your own way. If you need anything during the event, just let one of our friendly staff members know. We hope this explanation helps you feel excited and prepared for this event. If you have any questions or need further assistance, feel free to reach out to Emily at echurchcb@coosbaylibrary.org See you soon!
