Murder Charge, Broadbent
CCSO release – Date / Time: October 13, 2023 at 11:50 a.m.; Case Number(s): 2023-00030385; Classification: Murder II; Location: Rose City Wood Products, 49024 Hwy 242, Broadbent, Oregon; Suspect(s): McDaniel, Robert T. (39). Powers man arrested on the charge of Murder II after a dispute at Mill. On October 13th, 2023, at 11:50 a.m., the Coos County Sheriff’s Office Dispatch Center received several 911 calls reporting a disturbance in progress at Rose City Wood Products located at 49024 Hwy 242, Broadbent, Oregon. Several law enforcement agencies responded, and upon arrival, the victim, Mearl W. McDaniel (81) of Powers, was found deceased from Homicidal Violence. The suspect was identified as the victims’ grandson, Robert T. McDaniel (39) of Powers. Robert T. McDaniel was arrested on the charge of Murder II and was transported to the Coos County Jail, where he was booked and remains in custody. The Major Crimes Team was activated to investigate the incident, which is ongoing.

VRO, Carlisle Ln., Coos Bay
CCSO release – Date / Time: October 14, 2023 at 11:15 a.m.; Case Number(s): 2023-00030466; Classification: Violation of a Restraining Order x2; Location: Carlisle Lane, Coos Bay; Suspect(s): Phillips, Jesse R. (43) of Coos Bay. Coos Bay man jumps out trailer window and attempts to flee but is ultimately arrested on two counts of Violation of a Restraining Order. On October 14th, 2023 at 11:15 a.m. Deputy H. Francis responded to an address on Carlisle Lane to attempt to locate Jesse R. Phillips (43) of Coos Bay, who had probable cause issued for his arrest on the charge of violation of a restraining order. Upon arrival, Deputies contacted a woman who insinuated Jesse R. Phillips was hiding from law enforcement inside the trailer. During the investigation, Mr. Phillips dove out the trailer window and attempted to hide under the trailer in thick mud. Deputies were ultimately able to take Mr. Phillips into custody. Jesse R. Phillips (43) of Coos Bay was arrested on the original charge he had probable cause for (Violation of a Restraining Order). Mr. Phillips was charged with a second count of Violation of a Restraining Order for events stemming from his arrest. Mr. Phillips was transported to the Coos County Jail, where he was booked and remains in custody.

Warrant Service, Bunker Hill
CCSO release – Date / Time: October 13, 2023 at 7:20 a.m.; Case Number(s): 2023-00030358; Classification: Warrant Service; Location: Bunker Hill 7 11; Suspect(s): Randie L. Bowen (29). Woman was recognized on a traffic stop and subsequently arrested for having outstanding warrants for her arrest. On October 13, 2023 at 7:20 a.m. Deputy H. Francis from the Coos County Sheriff’s Office conducted a traffic stop of a vehicle in the parking lot at 7 11 in Bunker Hill for several traffic violations. An occupant in the vehicle, Randie L. Bowen (29), was recognized from prior police contacts. A record check revealed Ms. Bowen had two valid warrants for her arrest. The warrants were confirmed, and Ms. Bowen was placed under arrest. The driver was issued a citation for Driving While Suspended and Driving Uninsured. Randie L. Bowen (29) was transported to the Coos County Jail, where she was booked and remains in custody.

Warrant Service, Lakeside
CCSO release – Date / Time: October 14th, 2023, around 9:17 pm; Case Number(s): Classification: Warrant Service; Location: 9th Street, Lakeside; Suspect(s): Derick L. Roberts (43). Investigation leads to 43-year-old being arrested on multiple Warrants. October 14th, 2023, around 9:17 pm, Coos County Dispatch received a report of a disturbance on 9th Street in Lakeside. Deputy Lee and Deputy Burgo responded to the area and began their investigation. After concluding their investigation, Deputy Lee arrested Derick Lee Roberts (43) on two active warrants. Coos County Dispatch had confirmed an active warrant for Mr. Roberts out of Coos County and one active warrant out of Douglas County. Deputy Lee transported Mr. Roberts to the Coos County Jail, where he was booked. Due to limited housing, the nature of the charges on the warrants, and no other release options, Mr. Roberts was released with future court dates in Coos and Douglas Counties.
