During a special board meeting Tuesday, the Board of Directors for the Coos Bay School District chose an interim superintendent to fill the vacant position while a search for a permanent superintendent takes place. Brian Gardner, a former superintendent with the Central Linn School District, has agreed to a contact and will begin immediately. He replaces acting Superintendent Dave Novotney who was appointed after Superintendent Charis McGaughy resigned Dec. 1, 2023 over health concerns.
