The Board of Directors for the Coos Bay School District have hired an interim superintendent to fill the vacancy created by the sudden resignation over health concerns by former superintendent Charis McGaughy. Retired superintendent Brian Gardner has agreed to a contract that has him serving in the interim through the end of the current school year, June 2024 while a search for a permanent superintendent continues.
