An illegal campfire off Ocean Blvd., near Merritt Lake in Coos Bay, led to a brush fire on Tuesday, August 8. According to reports, the Coos Bay Fire Dept. and Coos Forest Protective Association responded and kept the fire to a tenth of an acre. The fire was most likely caused by camping transients.
