CCSO release – Date/Time: February 8th, 2024; Case #: 202400003383; Classification: Bias Crime in the Second Degree; Location: West Fork Millicoma Road; Suspect(s): Kenra Cardwell (62); Summary: Coos County Woman Arrested for Bias Crime in the Second Degree. On February 9th, 2024, around 5:00 pm, Sergeant A. Slater received an in-person report from a Coos County woman of African American descent. The woman stated that on February 8th, 2024, she was up near the West Fork Millicoma Road landslide regarding the slide on W. Fork Millicoma Road when a woman, identified as Kenra Cardwell (62), made a comment involving “lynching” and needing a rope. This comment caused the reporting party alarm while understanding that the term “lynching” historically means serious physical injury or death due to that person’s race. Sergeant Slater continued his investigation by interviewing witnesses to the allegation. When Sergeant Slater concluded his investigation, he contacted Kenra at her residence. After interviewing her, Kenra was arrested for Bias in the Second Degree and transported to the Coos County Jail, where she was booked and processed. Kenra was released on her own recognizance as required by Senate Bill 48.
