Coos Bay, OR, — August 30, 2023 Bay Area Hospital originally announced the closure of its Home Health business on June 15, 2023. This decision was driven by the financially challenging landscape of healthcare post-pandemic. Shortly after the closure was announced, Oregon Coast Home Health came forward interested in purchasing the business entity. This option allowed for less disruption for the patients receiving care and opened another potential for staff to retain employment within home health. Shortly after the closure announcement, Bay Area Hospital shifted its focus to enter into an agreement for sale with Oregon Coast Home Health. Bay Area Home Health had been part of the Coos County community for the last 46 years. Serving about 600 patients in their homes each year, the team has been an integral contributor to the health of our community. This important care meets patients in their homes when they are not able to make their way to traditional healthcare settings. While August 17 marked the end of Bay Area Home Health, Oregon Coast Home Health created a seamless transition for the patients. The remaining 21 patients still receiving home health services have all transitioned to the new company. Their care is still being delivered by the same team under new ownership.
