OSU Cross-Country, Nov. 13

OSU release – SACRAMENTO, Calif. – Kaylee Mitchell added another chapter to her storied legacy at Oregon State on Friday morning. The redshirt senior from Salem, Ore. won her second straight NCAA West Regional and set a course record of 19:08.4 in the process. It was Mitchell’s third-straight season earning all-region honors and secured her trip to the NCAA Championships next week. Joining her in Charlottesville will be Grace Fetherstonhaugh, who also earned her third-straight all-region selection by placing third overall. The duo will head to the championships looking to earn All-America honors for the second consecutive season. As a team, OSU placed ninth, a disappointing overall result that likely takes the Beavers out of the running for the NCAA Championships as a team. The Beavs dealt with injuries over the course of the season’s final few weeks and we’re able to put together the full team performance to make nationals for a second year in a row. “It was rough for us today. Our path was clear: get top 5 and move on. But, we had some difficulties out there and simply didn’t get it done. It’s unfortunate as this is the best team we’ve had in a while, but you have to get it done on the day. We couldn’t accomplish that,” said head coach Louie Quintana. “On the flip side, we were led by two great performances in Kaylee and Grace going 1-3. Kaylee is a two time region champ, which is awesome and we are looking forward to both of them representing the Beavs next week.” Oregon’s women qualified for the NCAA finals by placing second as a team, and the Duck men were seventh.
