The road wasn’t good for Southwestern Oregon’s volleyball team. The Lakers lost Friday at first-place Linn-Benton (14-0, 29-0), 3-0, Albany, and then 3-1 at third-place Lane (9-5, 13-6), Eugene, Saturday. With two-matches to go in the regular season, fourth-place SWOCC (7-7, 13-13) hosts sixth-place Umpqua (6-8, 13-16) Monday, 6 p.m., Prosper Hall on the Coos Bay Campus, and end the season Friday, Nov. 3, 6 p.m. by hosting second-place Rogue (10-4, 15-7). Southwestern’s women’s soccer team lost their final game of the regular season 1-0 at Rogue, Grants Pass, Saturday. (1-7-4, 1-10-4). The Laker men (0-11-3, 0-13-3) also dropped their finale at Rogue, 3-0, Saturday to end the season. Southwestern finished second to Lane at the NWAC Southern Region Cross-Country Championships Saturday at Roseburg. Lane won with 41-points, while the Lakers tallied 49. Sophomore RJ Kennedy, Lane, won the 8K race in 25:32.1, while Southwestern freshman Justus Jackson was third in 26:32.9.
