ODFW release – Market squid advisory committee meets Sept. 25 – NEWPORT, Ore – Oregon’s commercial market squid fishery advisory panel and ODFW marine fisheries managers meet virtually Monday, Sept. 25 from 1-3 p.m. The public is invited to observe the meeting. Find the agenda and link to join here. Potential limited entry for the fishery and a fleetwide opinion survey on this will be discussed. The Oregon Fish and Wildlife Commission set Jan. 1, 2022 as a control date should they consider a limited entry fishery in the future. This would mean only boats participating prior to that date could be eligible for limited entry. The Commission also directed ODFW staff to return an interim report in 2024 about the market squid fishery and potential qualifications to make this a limited entry fishery. More information on the market squid fishery can be found on ODFW’s commercial fishery web pages.
