OSU release – CORVALLIS, Ore. – 16th-ranked Oregon State used an explosive rushing attack to push aside UC Davis, 55-7, in its home opener on Saturday night. The Beavers (2-0) treated the sold-out completed Reser Stadium with 450 yards of offense, including 269 on the ground for the nonconference win. Damien Martinez’s 104 rushing yards on just seven carries and a score on the ground led the Beavers while DJ Uiagalelei tossed two scores and 107 yards through the air. Additionally, Uiagalelei dashed into the endzone for a touchdown. Silas Bolden hauled in 65 yards through the air to lead the receiving corps, which included a 22-yard toss from Uiagalelei. Easton Mascarenas-Arnold led the stout Beaver defense with 6.0 total tackles while Isaac Hodgins, Jermod McCoy and Mascarenas-Arnold each tallied an interception. Scoring the game’s first 55 points of the contest, Oregon State started things with a bang. With the Aggies driving into Beaver territory, Martinez dashed 64 yards on the first play from scrimmage for the Beavers after a turnover. Uiagalelei helped double the lead when he scrambled in for the score, capping a four-play, 48-yard drive that chewed almost two minutes from the clock. Tallying 24 in the second frame, an Uiagalelei pass to Rweha Munyagi Jr. helped push the lead to 21-0 after a third successive PAT from Atticus Sappington. The five-yard reception marked Munyagi Jr.’s first reception for a score. Accounting for two successive touchdowns, Silas Bolden used a 65-yard punt return and a 22-yard touchdown reception from Uiagalelei to pad the Beavs’ advantage to 35. A pair of Sappington field goals on both sides of the intermission pushed the lead to a more comfortable 41-0. Two more first-career scores helped get the Beavs to 55: an Adrian Chiles pass to Riley Sharp and finally a Chiles sneak for a score. The visitors used a nine-yard passing score to evade the shutout. With the win, Oregon State notched their sixth consecutive game, a mark that tied the 2013 squad. Additionally, the Beavers have won 12 of their last 13 games in the confines of Reser Stadium dating back to 2021, and five straight. For the third time in the Jonathan Smith era, Oregon State held their opposition to fewer than 200 yards of offense. The Beavers will be back in action Saturday, Sept. 16, when they take on San Diego State in a nationally televised showdown on Fox Sports 1. Kickoff from Reser Stadium is set for 12:30 p.m.
