Lakeside man arrested after 911 report of a domestic disturbance. On August 16, 2023, at 4:29 p.m., the Coos County Sheriff’s Office Dispatch Center received a call of a disturbance in progress occurring on Reavis Road just east of Lakeside. Prior to arrival, it was reported that the man and woman involved in the disturbance had left the location in a white sedan. Deputy J. Vinyard located the vehicle in Lakeside and contacted the car’s occupants. Deputy Vinyard contacted Richard S. Pohl II (39) of Lakeside, and a female was also inside the vehicle. As a result of the investigation Richard S. Pohl ll (39) was arrested on the charge of Assault IV Domestic. Richard was transported to the Coos County Jail, where he was booked and is currently in custody.
5-Year Prison Sentence
CCSO release – Date / Time: August 14th, 2023; Classification: DA Conviction Sexual Abuse II / Strangulation / Assault II; Suspect(s): Collins, Michael J. (54); Michael J. Collins (54) of Bandon sentenced to 60 months in prison. On September 29th, 2022, Deputy H. Francis from the Coos County Sheriff’s Office began investigating a disturbing event that occurred on Coastal Evergreen Lane just north of Bandon. As a result of Deputy Francis’s exceptional investigation, Michael J. Collins (54) of Bandon was arrested on several charges. Over the next few months, Chief Deputy District Attorney Jody Newby worked tirelessly with Deputy Francis and the victim, in this case, to ensure Mr. Collins was held accountable for his actions on the evening of September 29th, 2022. As a result of this hard work by Chief Deputy District Attorney Newby and Deputy H. Francis, the case was resolved before trial, thus keeping the victim from further anguish by having to testify at trial. On August 14th, due to a plea agreement, Michael J. Collins (54) of Bandon pleaded guilty in Circuit Court to Assault in the Second Degree, Strangulation, and Sexual Abuse in the Second Degree. Mr. Collins was sentenced to (70) months in the Department of Corrections. Several additional charges were dismissed as a result of the plea negotiation. We are very thankful for the resolution in this case and hope the victim can move forward with her recovery and healing in peace.
