Empty Log Truck vs. Bicycle, July 10

On Friday, July 7, 2023, at approximately 1:15 P.M., the Oregon State Police responded to a vehicle versus bicycle crash on Hwy-101, near milepost 125 in Lincoln County. The preliminary investigation indicated a white “Giant” bicycle, ridden by Bradley James Stark (57) of Hillsboro, was traveling southbound on US-101 when for unknown reasons it contacted the side of a maroon 2020 International CMV (bunked, empty log truck), operated by Richard Eugene Wiser (36) of Newport. Stark suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene. US-101 was closed/partially closed for approximately 4 hours following the crash during the on-scene reconstruction investigation. OSP was assisted by LCPD, LCSO, and Depoe Bay Fire. This is an ongoing investigation and will be forwarded to the Lincoln County District Attorney for review when complete.
