CCSO release – Scam messages are being sent by Text and Email advising citizens to click a link to renew their concealed handgun permits. This is a Scam. The Coos County Sheriff’s Office does not currently have the capability to process renewals electronically or to send out reminders. Please do not click the link and if possibly block the number or sender. If you have clicked the link and added any personal information please be sure to call nonemergency dispatch line 541-396-2106 so you can make a report. If you provided bank and/or credit card information be sure and call your bank/credit card provider to report it. If you provided your social security number please call Social Security Fraud hotline 800-269-0271 and Treasury Inspector General 800-366-4484. Please share this scam alert with family and friends.
